skim either side of the mason dixon line and then that's going to be it. for tonight cold with flurries or snow showers possible mainly north, lows 28 to 32, winds light out of the southwest at 10. we'll come back. we aren't done with the snow showers. we could see some tomorrow. we'll let you know if that will impact the morning commute tuesday. that nearly week long hostage drama in alabama is now over and the little boy is alive. the fbi says negotiations with suspect jimmy lee dykes were deteriorating. dykes had been holding the boy since last tuesday when he killed the school bus driver and snatched the 5-year-old off the bus. in the last 24 hours dykes was seen holding a gun in his underground bunker and just two hours ago agents took action. >> fbi agents fearing the child was in imminent danger entered the bunker and rescued the child. the child appears physically unharmed and is being treated at a local hospital. the subject is deceased.

>> the fbi did not release any other details about the raid. the motive for the kidnapping is also not known. the ravens have landed. take a look as the guys make their way off of the plane which landed out at bwi airport a little while ago. the workers are getting into it as well. fist bumping the players as they come off the plane and walk by, but the really big celebration and the parade, everybody will be there tomorrow for the team. scott broom is live at ravens m&t bank stadium with more on what they've got planned. scott. >> reporter: yeah. you almost have to wear purple in baltimore today. so i've got my purple on. as you said, no formal celebration as that plane landed tonight. they are saving all that for a huge celebration in baltimore that will shut down much of the city tomorrow morning. [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: they partied well into the early hours of the

morning and a lot of fans kept the celebration going today. they mobbed souvenir stands to snap up championship memorabilia to make the feeling last. >> we got to have something to wear at that parade tomorrow. >> can't you tell? they're winners. >> i just lost it when the colts left and then when the ravens came in, it gave me a whole new meaning. >> reporter: the barriers came out in downtown baltimore today to prepare for street closures and a parade that will run from city hall to m&t bank stadium. festivities start at 10:30 a.m. and will last well past noon. last night's celebrations remember mostly well behaved according to police who closed a major expressway into downtown to discourage more people. incidents included the looting of a 7-eleven and the trashing of some vehicles including at least one tv news truck. there will be tens of thousands of people in downtown baltimore tomorrow. the parade starts at the city

hall at 10:30 in the morning, moves through the downtown to m&t bank stadium here where the doors will be open for free. you can fill the stadium potentially with tens of thousands of people for a celebration that will continue here starting at 12:30. it will be a big day in baltimore with a lot of pent up enthusiasm. people really want to clear for that team in person. reporting live in baltimore at m&t bank stadium scott broom, wusa9. >> thank you, scott. something tells me there will be a few people calling in sick tomorrow in charm city. we will have the big coverage on the ravens super bowl celebration, the homecoming festivities set to run from 10:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. and we'll stream it all live on www.wusa9.com. of course, we'll have extensive coverage in our 5:00, 6:00 and 7 p.m. shows and at 7:30 it's game on purple rain where we will have wrapups of all the regular season and postseason action.

the power outage at the superdome may have grabbed more headlines than the game itself. play was suspended over half an hour while folks tried to get the juice flowing again. the manager of the superdome says the power system sensed an "abnormality" and shut down. apparently it's designed to do that and he claimed beyonce's halftime show had absolutely nothing to do with it. a landlord tenant battle between the salvation army and a popular church in d.c. is over. the courts ruled a health club started by the church can be' convicted by a building owned by the sal -- evicted by a building owned by the salvation army. >> reporter: tamika nicholson didn't know until we told her that today is her last day working out at the spirit health and wellness center in southeast. >> is it closing?

i didn't know that. >> reporter: the only private health and fitness club in anacostia is closing at the end of business this event the courts have ruled the salvation army, owner of the building, can now go through with an eviction of the for profit facility founded by the nearby union temple baptist church. >> we have a group and spirit who is a for profit organization who defaulted on their rent. >> reporter: in a statement today the salvation army says it's owed more than $170,000 in back rent. >> it's been multiple months. we have ended the lease agreement and have opted not to renew. >> reporter: at the health club today we found only disappointed and hurt fitness instructors. >> to actually see something in the community that's good, actually leave that fast actually hurts a lot. >> reporter: after today some six full time employees some 1,200 clients will have to have another health club. of course, the big s loser could be the community, one of the -- biggest loser could be the community, one of the

poorest neighborhoods in the community and they've got all kinds of health problems. >> cardiovascular problems, way overweight. any day any month they can pass a way. >> reporter: the salvation army says in its statement it's hoping to identify a health and wellness nonprofit organization to lease the space soon to be vacated by the spirit club. bruce johnson, wusa9. >> members of union temple baptist church say they tried unsuccessfully to stave off the health club eviction while negotiating a rent settlement with the salvation army. a state senate committee in richmond shot down a proposal for more gun control. the bill would have addressed virginia's so-called gun show loophole. as it stands now private sellers do not need to run background checks on potential buyers at gun shows. under the bill defeated today a private seller would have had the option of making a buyer undergo a background check. president obama has made his first trip outside the beltway to push his new campaign to curb gun violence. he traveled to minneapolis once

nicknamed murderapolis because of all the shooting deaths. the president praised the city's turnaround. president obama needs congress in his corner to see some of the same things occur nationwide. >> i need everybody who is listening toeep pressure on your congress member to do the right thing. >> this is the first of several trips the president plans to make to put public pressure on a sharply divided congress. an undercover wusa9 investigation airing tonight finds black passengers more likely to be ignored and wait longer for d.c. taxis. investigative reporter russ ptacek has the hidden camera footage, but you're also trying to empower consumers to stop this. >> all of our stuff is caught on tape and tonight at 11:00 we're launching a new mobile tool that will allow passengers to do it, too and document and report cabbies breaking d.c.'s

how does free wi-fi for everybody in the country sound? the fcc is looking into doing that. according to the washington post, the signal could be so strong americans could use it to make phone calls and surf the web without shelling out money to the cell phone companies. predictably verizon, at&t and others are said to be lobbying pretty hard against this. now a heads up for drivers on the beltway. crews will be doing some emergency utility work between midnight and 5:00 tomorrow morning. this is on the virginia side of the beltway near route 7. expect to find several lanes shut down in that area overnight including the express lane. if you're like a lot of people, you spent almost as much time watching the commercials as the game. >> that's what we were talking about the whole time. there were some really heart warming ads and at least one that made a lot of us squeamish. we'll break down

bowl commercials and here today with us is bruce horowitz. thanks for joining us. >> my pleasure. >> the u.s. budweiser clydesdale spot took the top spot in the ad meter and i got to tell you. it made me cry. what stood out about it? >> this was the super bowl where ads with heart got all the love at least from usa today's ad meter panelists. people are not interested in just yukking it up. they want something that not only tickles the funny bone but plucks the heart strings. >> this is the tide laundry commercial, the joe montana and salsa and the pandemonium that follows among sports fans until the wife wipes out the stain with tide. >> another feel good ad. a miracle stain translated into for p and g and tide. >> the ode to the american

farmer in the ram truck ad seemed to really resonate. >> think about it. whoever imagined turning on the super bowl and seeing a commercial about the american farmer. i mean my goodness, these guys latched onto something. this won't be the end of american farmers in not just super bowl ads but others. >> your ad meter showed it really worked. let's talk about one of the most controversial, the godaddy ad. it might have been one of the most booed or cheered . at the super bowl party i went to the women were going ew as that kiss went on and on. did this miss the mark? >> i can tell you they were going ew in every room i was in as well. yes. did it miss the mark for godaddy? not at all. this is just what they want. you and me are sitting there talking about it. >> that's what they want, the buzz, whether it was liked or not. >> absolutely. so it worked.

33 in waldorf, temperatures pretty uniform. here's a look at radar. it looks pretty impressive, but our big storms don't come from the west or northwest. we'll zoom in. we're seeing a little snow west of hagerstown to cumberland. there will be plenty of snow there, probably 1 to 2 inches between cumberland and hagerstown and on the other side of the divide there will be 4 to 6 inches of snow. in the immediate area yes, we could see a snow shower or flurry. another clipper tonight, snow showers possible again mainly north, a dusting possible. evening commute is fine no, worries about getting home tonight. cold with flurries or snow showers possible mainly north, lows 28 to 32 and light winds out of the southwest at 10. by morning we still run the risk of a couple snow showers possible. up toward frederick you could see a coating in the morning. i think the rest of us it's not a big deal for the morning commute and by afternoon pretty

nice. partly cloudy, not as cold, highs near 45, a shade above average and winds are light. our averages start to go up. by the end of the month they're 50 for an average high temperature, more on that on my blog at www.wusa9.com. next three days we'll keep things green. why not? morning snow showers not a big deal tomorrow 44 and 48 wednesday, very nice day and 49 thursday, another very nice day. next seven days going to be flirting with 50. now on saturday -- on friday we'll have morning showers and on saturday temps go down a little bit, upper 40s, but then we're low 50s on sunday and next monday we actually need some moisture whether be it snow or rain, looks like a decent rain as we get into monday with temperatures in the low 50s. dave will be back with sports

after yesterday's game same thing. so i guess the question, are they on a schedule next year? >> i don't know. i might end up with too many kids. i don't know how to handle one of them. my wife has done all of that. two will be a little crazy. i don't know if i want to play them anymore. when you wish upon the star, you win the super bowl, you go to disney world. flacco somehow got himself together after all that partying last night and visited mickey today, the annual ritual given to the mvp. he'll be on letterman tonight. amidst all the hoopla and confetti the ravens lost the lombardi trophy. we need to get russ ptacek on this, investigation, please! not sure where the super bowl trophy went or how it was misplaced, but good news. it's back. head coach john harbaugh says thank you to whoever returned the hardware. hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. we know the nats begin spring training in a few weeks. maybe the sporting news knows something they don't. they've listed stephen
